There was a lot that I can tell happened in this dream but all I remember was being outside in pitch black night on the grass outside a college. I was with a few strangers and I was really jittery for some reason. All of a sudden I saw some strange lights flashing in a really strange way in the sky and I just got so scared because real me in my mind is absolutely terrified of those dreams that other people might find just weird but are so scary to me. That’s what this dream was starting to feel like with those lights so I just started screaming and the people around me were either trying to calm me down or screaming too. Then the lights turned into a helicopter with its searchlight on and it started scanning the crowd looking for someone. It turned away, looked over a nearby building across the road, then came back and flashed the searchlight over us again. Then it left. I think I went to my car and fell asleep really scared. When I woke up in my dream I was somehow in one of the college hallways walking with the guy I like(were going to call him Bluebell) and someone else who was either my dad or one of my friends, I can’t remember which. But I was still petrified because I really didn’t want this dream to be a scary one and I think he knew what had happened with like the helicopter and the lights and he was kind of trying to calm me down a little bit. I think there was a point when I was fidgeting with my hands and he reached over and stopped me and held on to my hand but it was more me just like holding on because I was so scared and so we were just walking like this down this really long glass hallway like one you’d see at an airport. There was a point where I stopped holding his hand to talk to the other person with us or get something out of my backpack for the security. There was something going through security that really triggered my fear and so I kind of froze up outside of security and I was so terrified I couldn’t move and he just came up and took my hand and intertwined our hands together really gently. My hand was shaking so bad because I was so scared but the way he was holding my hand was really firm like he was trying to stop my hand from shaking so bad and at the same time calm me down. It was really comforting and seemed very much like something he’d do because of how sweet he is in real life but I kept thinking like what if he feels like he has to do this or something and this is just some kind of annoyance or something. I’m overthinking even in my dreams even if it doesn’t make sense and contradicts him as a person. But yeah. Then I woke up.
Your dream is rich in imagery and emotion, and it reflects many layers of your subconscious. Let’s break it down into different segments to gain a clearer understanding of its meanings.
Your dream begins outside in complete darkness on a college lawn. Darkness often symbolizes the unknown or repressed fears, suggesting that there may be feelings or thoughts you have not fully confronted yet. The college setting indicates a period of learning, growth, and transition, as well as social interaction. Being around strangers suggests that you might be encountering new experiences, ideas, or challenges in your waking life that are making you feel vulnerable or anxious.
The strange lights in the sky evolve into a helicopter's searchlight, which creates a sense of urgency and fear. Lights in dreams can indicate insight or revelation, while a helicopter represents surveillance or a feeling of being scrutinized. The transition from lights to a helicopter symbolizes that you are starting to become aware of something that is troubling you, but it’s presented in a frightening manner. The fear you experienced reflects a sense of feeling overwhelmed by situations or emotions that might be exposing you to judgment or pressure, possibly indicating a desire to escape from scrutiny or the need to find clarity in your life.
Your scream signifies a release of pent-up anxiety. Being surrounded by others, some of whom are calm while others are just as scared, expresses the dichotomy of feeling isolated in your fears while simultaneously seeking reassurance from social connections. This can imply that in moments of distress, you may feel the urge to express your feelings vocally but also desire support from those who understand or share similar fears.
After the frightening helicopter episode, you find yourself in a college hallway with Bluebell and another individual. Hallways often symbolize transitions, choices, or pathways in life. They can reflect the journey you’re on and the uncertainty you face. The presence of Bluebell suggests that he represents comfort or emotional support in your life, especially as you navigate through anxious or transitional phases. Being among familiar company in a new context can provide a sense of grounding amid instability.
The act of holding hands is a powerful symbol of connection, support, and intimacy. Bluebell’s action of intertwining your fingers demonstrates his desire to offer comfort and stability, representing positive emotional support during challenging moments. Your hesitance and overthinking, even in the dream space, indicate a deep-seated fear of vulnerability or a concern about being a burden to others. This reflects a common struggle in relationships: the balance between needing support and fearing that needing help might be an annoyance to those we care about.
Your encounter with security evokes feelings of fear that paralyze you. This suggests that there are barriers or challenges in your life that trigger anxiety, possibly representing deeper issues around self-judgment or fear of failure. Being 'checked' by security can represent your worries about being assessed or judged, amplifying your feelings of insecurity and apprehension.
Ultimately, this dream encapsulates the themes of anxiety, the need for reassurance, and the desire for genuine connection during times of uncertainty. It may reveal a part of you that is grappling with fears—be they about the future, relationships, or personal challenges—while also underlying a strong desire to connect with others, particularly those who offer comfort.
In waking life, consider reflecting on what might be causing some of the insecurity or apprehension you experienced in your dream. Recognize the importance of those who provide emotional support, like Bluebell, and allow yourself to lean on them when difficulties arise. This dream presents both a window into your fears and a reminder to seek support and connection during challenging times.
